The Wildschönau with the villages Niederau, Oberau, Auffach and Thierbach is a popular holiday region. Wild, traditional and rustic is the high valley in Tyrol. Niederau is the first place to arrive in the Wildschönau and lies at 828 meters. Niederau is immediately recognizable by the pointed church steeple of his parish church and the nearby mountain Markbachjoch. Niederau is only 10 km away from the motorway exit A12 in Wörgl.

Toboggan Wildschönau A toboggan ride brings fun for the whole family and fun off the piste. The lifts at Schatzberg and Lanerköpfl are each 5 kilometers long. The toboggan run Lanerköpfl on Markbachjoch is a sporty descent. From the top station of the Lanerköpflbahn it is five kilometers to Niederau past the Gseng and Laner Alm.

With the gondola of the Markbachjochbahn (300 meters from the apartment) you come on top of the "house mountain" of the village Niederau (about 825 meters high), the Markbachjoch (about 1500 meters high). The mountain pastures and huts are popular destinations. Take the mountain road to the tiny Horlerstiegl chapel via Oberau’s Roggenboden and then on to the Käse Alm.
Paragliding in Tyrol. The Markbachjoch is the hotspot of paragliders and aviation athletes. The sky above Niederau is regularly dotted with many paragliding screens. The flight and wind conditions for air sports are particularly suitable here, because the high valley is well protected from strong winds. The starting point for paragliding in the Wildschönau is located next to the mountain station of the Markbachjoch gondola, which takes the aviation sportsmen from mid-May to October.
