The Wildschönau Almabtrieb in September or cattle drive is one of the few remaining authentic festivals of it's kind in Tirol. It takes place from 10.00 am in Auffach. Grandiose cattle drive through Auffach. Farmers market, craft fair, Tirolean specialties and farm produce on sale. The Schatzberg lift car park in Auffach is the venue. The festival is opened by the Bundesmusikkapelle Auffach and afterwards the group "Wildschönau 6" provides the music and entertainment. Music groups will be playing at the Gasthof Weissbacher, Hotel Platzl and Hotel Auffacherhof. The first cows arrive at around 12 pm. After the long summer with their animals, the cowherds come together once more on the eve of the Almabtrieb the so-called Gru- Nacht after milking and pack up for the long cattle drive home. The cows' horns are decorated and their bells polished for the vivid festival where they are admired by thousands of spectators.
